What Pachmayr Delivers

Recoil You Can Actually Handle

Engineered rubber compounds absorb impact where it counts—your shoulder stays comfortable through extended range sessions and hunting trips.

Fits Without Gunsmithing

Pre-sized models and grind-to-fit options mean you get the right dimensions for your stock without paying a gunsmith or waiting weeks for custom work.

Grips When It Matters

Textured surfaces keep the stock planted against your shoulder during rapid follow-up shots, even in wet conditions or through heavy layers.

Built by Shooters Who Got Tired of Sore Shoulders

Pachmayr started because Frank Pachmayr, a gunsmith in Los Angeles, kept seeing the same problem: rifles that shot great but beat people up. In 1948, he made his first recoil pad in his shop using a new synthetic rubber compound that actually absorbed impact instead of just sitting there looking nice. Shooters tried it, came back for more, and told their friends. That’s how you build a business that lasts 75 years.

We make recoil pads and grips that work during long days at the range, not just the first five rounds. Our pads use materials engineered to compress and distribute force across your shoulder—actual physics, not marketing. The Decelerator pad, for instance, uses multiple durometer layers because recoil isn’t a single impact; it’s a series of forces that need to be managed differently. We test with magnum loads and repeated firing because that’s when bad pads fail and good ones prove themselves.

The goal isn’t to eliminate felt recoil completely—that’s physics nobody’s beaten yet. It’s to reduce it enough that you can shoot accurately without anticipating the kick, practice without developing a flinch, and finish a day at the range without feeling like you fought the gun. We’re not interested in making firearms look tactical or pretty. We’re interested in making them more comfortable to shoot, which makes you a better shooter. Everything else is secondary.

Real Shooters, Real Results

Man in navy cap outdoors

Michael T.

I put the Decelerator on my 12-gauge and finally made it through a full day of sporting clays without a sore shoulder. Wish I’d done this years ago.

Woman wearing brown fedora hat

Linda K.

After installing the D752B on my deer rifle, my follow-up shots improved noticeably. Less flinch means better accuracy—it’s that simple.

James R.

I’m a smaller-framed shooter and recoil used to be a real issue. The Pachmayr pad on my shotgun let me focus on my aim instead of bracing for impact.
